WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The primary purpose of this position is to administer functions of an animal feed nutrition laboratory. Provide technical support to Production, Formulations, and Nutrition. Perform complex chemical and physical analysis of incoming ingredients, manufactured products, outgoing material, and customer samples. High degree of analytical and instrumentation training. Interacts with other departments to communicate testing results.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to become trained and competent on complex instrumentation including but not limited to near infrared reflectance spectrometry, liquid spectrophotometer, Kjeldahl analyzer, manual titrator, and instrument specific data systems.
  • Perform required quality control analysis of incoming, manufactured and outgoing materials.
  • Perform instrument maintenance, calibrations, quality control checks, solution preparations, and solution standardizations.
  • Coordinate service providers and manage service contracts.
  • Provide operations with timely technical assistance during the manufacture of products and/or resolution of manufacturing/quality questions.
  • Maintain records accurately, neatly, legibly, and completely.
  • Maintain a clean and neat laboratory at all times.
  • Promote complete customer satisfaction through quality and service to both external and internal customers.
  • Perform all lab testing in a safe, professional manner and follow all laboratory safety requirements.
  • Work closely with managers, nutritionists, and fellow technicians to accomplish company goals.

QUALIFYING SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Science or related degree strongly preferred. Must be good with basic math, personal computer, and have statistical knowledge. Must be proficient with spreadsheet utilization, particularly Excel.
  • One to two years technical experience desired, but not necessary if background and interests are evident. Lab experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and strong interpersonal relationship building, with the ability to communicate to various groups.
  • This position requires walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time. The employee frequently is required to sit and walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, keyboards, and reach with hands and arms. The position requires working in environments at varying temperatures and noise levels. This position requires the ability to lift 50 lb.
