Plant Manager

Position Description

Devenish Nutrition is searching for a dynamic Plant Manager to take on the responsibility for plant operations and production goals at our Thomson, GA plant. This position is responsible for managing production operations to include staffing, training, line efficiencies, preventative maintenance program, people development, cost control, quality and safety.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day production operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards
  • Responsible for production output, product quality and ensure product is available for on-time shipping
  • Drive Quality Assurance activities in the facility to ensure that products meet both Devenish and customer standards and specifications.
  • Maintain Safety training for all employees to develop a highly functional safety culture.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective action plans
  • Collect and analyze data to find places of waste and inefficiency
  • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.
  • Assist with and perform daily office operations, completing shipping documents, inventory control and other operational tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises approximately 5-10 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; in consultation with Human Resources addresses employee concerns.
  • Ensure employees are trained and performing Devenish production and quality practices.

Qualifying Skills & Attributes

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; advanced degree a plus
  • Past manufacturing operations management and supervision experience required
  • Knowledge of safety, and a familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
  • Familiarity with quality systems, HACCP in the Food or Feed industry
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Aptitude for equipment operation and troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication skills
